General Comments

Leslie Abbott Smith is a sole practitioner in San Francisco, California. Her practice, located in the tower of the Mills Building at the corner of Bush and Montgomery Streets, is limited to family law matters. She works with clients who choose to collaborate and/or mediate a resolution to their marital or child custody issues, as well as those who choose to negotiate or litigate. Leslie returned to school to complete her education while raising her own children as a single parent. Having received her J.D. from Golden Gate University in 1984, Leslie joined the family law practice of James P. Preovolos in 1985. Following Mr. Preovolos’ death in 1989, she practiced in an Association of Attorneys known as The Law Offices of James P. Preovolos until September, 2002. What followed is her work as a sole practitioner in an office suite with twelve other sole practitioners, four of whom specialize in family law. Since Leslie was admitted to the California State Bar, her practice has been solely in the area of family law. She has been a certified Family Law Specialist, a designation conferred by the State Bar of California, since 1991. During her career, Leslie has been active in the family law section of the Bar Association of San Francisco, the State Bar Custody section North and the Association of Family Conciliation Courts. In addition to her role as attorney of record for one party in a family law matter, she sometimes acts as a mediator, as Collaborative counsel or as a Special Master/Parent Co-ordinator, as well as counsel for children of separated parents.
